Healthy Vegetable Dip

Jeanette's tip of the month:

Looking for a healthy vegetable dip, or a delicious spread for your sandwich? A great substitute for mayonnaise or a high-sugar condiment is hummus. Spice it with different herbs and create a nutritious new taste for every dish.

Coach Dr. Shan

This weekend Dr. Shan spoke at the Elite Coaching seminar in Denver. Doctor’s flew in from all over to attend this seminar.

As you know, Dr. Shan has a wonderful way of teaching and explaining concepts to patients so they make sense and are applicable for daily living- he’s also able to do that for other doctors.

Dr. Shan is gifted in many ways. It’s awesome to see his enthusiasm and willingness to share what he knows to better help not only his patients, but other doctors to help their patients as well! That’s just another way we’re striving to help as many people as possible to not suffer needlessly!

PS – Thank you to all of the doctor’s that attended and to Dr. Fred for leading Elite Coaching to new heights!!

Medical VS Chiropractic

Medical Health Philosophy
  • Medicine focuses on disease processes.
  • Measure blood values and use drugs to alter blood chemistry and change bodily function.
  • Has an outside in approach.
  • Reactive – let’s wait and see if you get a disease, then we can use a drug to treat it.
Chiropractic Health Philosophy
  • The body is a self healing self regulating organism.
  • Recognize the nervous system is the master system that controls, coordinates and regulates every cell, tissue and organ in the body.
  • Examine the nervous system for imbalances and use various treatments to balance and improve nervous system function.
  • Has an inside out approach.
  • Proactive – let’s change your function before you have a disease!

Safely Dispose of Meds - 2/7/09

As many of us know medications have disastrous side affects. We may not know how to throw them out or dispose of them properly, so they don't hurt us further or the environment. These are very toxic chemicals and we should treat them as such. If we throw the medications into the toilet and flush, as harmful as they may be, they will find their way into our water system. Yes into our drinking water and bathing water. They also affect all living creatures in our lakes and streams. Yes into our fishing streams.

Last year Longmont water service put a flyer in our water bill describing how the medications are not able to be filtered out, even with the best filtration in northern Colorado, and they end up in our water sources such as our lakes and streams. This has led to numerous problems with our fish population. The fish are becoming mutated and deformed beyond recognition. For our health, the health of our environment and the health of future generations of people and animals please dispose of your medications properly. Good Day Pharmacy is providing free disposal of all your unused medication (new, used or half used). Please find a location nearest to you and take your toxic mess. ~Dr. S

Your Daily Activities Could be the Cause

Do you...
Slump in your chair?
Drive for more that 20 min?
Look down while reading?
Sit at the computer for long periods of time?
Sit on the couch/over-sized chair and watch TV?
For women- do you wear your purse on one side only?
For kids - do you wear a backpack?

If you answered yes to any of these – your daily actives could be promoting poor posture.

Why is your posture important? You spine houses the spinal cord which carries energy from your brain to the rest of your body. If your posture is “off” that energy is unable to flow to the vital organs which leads to disease. For example: if the energy is shut down in your neck you may find yourself suffering with allergies, thyroid problems or hormone imbalances. If the energy is shut down in mid back you may have problems breathing, numbness/tingling in your hands or heartburn/indigestion. Finally, if the nerves are shut down in your lower back you may have digestive problems, sexual dysfunction or problems into your legs.

Being in any position for more than 20 minutes continually allows the tendons and liniments to relax allowing for possible shifts in your posture over time.

Take charge of your health by paying attention to those daily activities that could be contributing to the increase or decrease of your overall health.
