Dangers of GMO Pesticides by Dr. Blaylock

Thursday, September 9, 2010 11:19 AM
http://www.newsmaxhealth.com/dr_blaylock/GMO_pesticides/2010/09/09/348541.html?s=al&promo_code=AB57-1

Americans are becoming aware of the dangers of genetically modified organisms (GMO) foods, but most don't know that scientists have created GMO crops specifically designed to be resistant to weed killer.

This allows farmers to use weed killers at higher concentrations, and in theory, be able to control weeds more easily. It’s a win-win for big corporations: They can sell the special seed each season, and then sell a lot more weed killer.

Recent studies have found much higher concentrations of weed killers in these crops. This is important because weed killers and other pesticides are associated with a number of very deadly diseases, the main one being cancer. Weed killers, unlike many pesticides, extend to millions of homes, golf courses, and public facilities.

A growing number of carefully conducted studies are showing that weed killers may produce significant damage to human DNA, mitochondria, and especially immune cells. Worst of all, they may do so in doses far below that found in agricultural use.

A study from a French laboratory in 2009 reported in the journal Toxicology found that weed killers produced gene damage and concluded that weed killers should be considered carcinogens. Further, they accumulate in food, animal feed, and the environment. (For tips on buying safer food, read my special report "How to Avoid Poisonous Foods.")

Other pesticides are also linked to a high incidence of cancer, especially lymphomas.
From the late 1970s until 1992, there was a 50 percent increase in lymphoma, with the greatest incidence occurring in the farm belt of the Midwest. As far back as 1981, a study from Sweden found that there was a sixfold increase in malignant lymphoma in those exposed to herbicides.

Another highly fatal cancer, multiple myeloma, may also be linked to weed killers. Avoiding pesticides around the house will go a long way toward preventing these deadly cancers. (To learn more about the home health risks that threaten your family, read my special report "Health Dangers Lurk Within Your Home.") Greater protection can be gained from:

• Eating a good diet
• Thoroughly washing all fruits and vegetables
• Taking supplements that are known to increase your antioxidant defenses and hinder the development of cancer.

Many pesticides produce toxicity by generating massive amounts of free radicals. The following nutrients help protect from these free radicals:

• Vitamin K
• Curcumin
• Quercetin
• Indole-3 carbonol
• Alpha-lipoic acid
• Taurine
• Vitamin D-3

You can learn even more about the benefits of supplements by reading my special report "Key Vitamins That Save Your Heart, Prevent Cancer and Keep You Living Long." For more of Dr. Blaylock’s weekly tips, go here to view the archive.

Children with Neurosensory Disorders

Imagine you are driving along an unfamiliar highway late at night. It is pooring rain, so much so that the lights coming at you make it extremely difficult to see each time they are coming at you. You are looking to catch a glimpse of your turnoff in time to slow down and make the turn without causing an accident for those right behind you. The television you’ve invested in the backseat for your children is playing in the background, with people singing and yelling. On top of this, your children have started fighting over a noisy toy that they are pulling back and forth, making it rattle among the shouts and squeals. Your phone rings, it’s your husband wondering if you’ve made it there alright and on time. You’re late.

Now imagine this going on INSIDE of you all the time. While trying learn in school, meet new friends, learn new life skills, clean your room, sit still, play with brothers and sisters… Children with Neurosensory Disorders live life like this on a day to day basis.

Neuro—having to do with the nervous system—essentially, the part of your body that is responsible for controlling and coordinating all functions in the human body.
Sensory—the part of the nervous system that detects information and sends it to the brain so the brain can correctly interpret it and respond appropriately to the person’s environment.

Imagine if we could help these children to “turn down the noise” so that they may appropriately learn and respond to their environment. Silence, no rain, no traffic, the television turned down, no fighting children, the road signs bigger, brighter, clearer.

All too often, we can do everything to try to help these children. We use behavior therapy to work on modifying behavior, so that they can attempt to function even with the “noise” turned up inside them. We utilize sensory integration therapy, which attempts to strengthen the sensory systems (helping the road sign to “shout louder”). Or, we modify the child’s environment so that they can appear to be functioning normally as the outside volume is “turned down.” Unfortunately, their internal environment is still in chaos.

These approaches may all be necessary and helpful, dependant on the particular child. All too often, these approaches help somewhat , but the child inevitably plateaus prior to reaching their potential. Or worse yet, begins to regress as the “noise” becomes too much to handle. The reason is because noise in never really “turned down” for them. Parents then are made of feel the only other solution is medication— Dr. Baughman was published in the Journal of American Medical Association in regards to ADHD--“Once a psychotropic drug courses though their brain, they are, for the first time, physically, neurologically, and biologically abnormal.”(1) In other words, one dose of Ritalin, Xanax, or any of the other brain altering drugs are taken, their brain is changed--forever.

So, can the internal noise be “turned down?” Fortunately, the answer is often yes. By identifying where and from what the “noise” is coming from (toxins in the environment, nutritional toxicity or deficiency, movement deficiency, decreased neurologic function), eliminating inflammation in the brain, recreating proper connections between the brain and the body, and making sure the lines of communication are functioning normally without distortion, we can turn down the internal noise.

When this happens, and we then implement Behavioral Techniques, Environmental Modification, and sensory integration therapy, the results are often exponentially improved, and one can even often see not just an improved child, but a normal functioning child, one that can function normally in today’s hectic, stress filled world. Imagine the possibilities for a future where they are no longer held from…

Easy for Mom - Dangerous for Babies

Although many people use them are they really save?

Proper growth and development for a child is:

1 - Lying down
2 - Rolling over
3 - Crawling
4 - Standing
5 - Walking

At what point in the child upright?

We cause physical stress to our children when we hold them upright before they are able to pull themselves up – on their own. A baby’s structure is not ready to be held up against gravity and endure the extreme pressure.

Because many parents are standing their babies up long before they’re ready, we’re seeing the number of children with scoliosis on the rise. This causes many other complications that can last a lifetime.

Think about it – if babies were meant to be upright they would be born up running around. Let’s let them develop on their own time.

WHAT IS SQUARE FOOT GARDENING?

Square Foot Gardening is a technique of intensive planting developed by a retired civil engineer, Mel Bartholomew, in the 1970's. Mel describes the technique in his book, Square Foot Gardening, as "a system of laying out, planting, and maintaining a productive, attractive garden in any amount of space. The garden is based on a grid of 1-foot by 1-foot squares, with single seeds or plants placed in carefully determined spacings." Mel goes on to say, "The square foot system lets you make the most of your garden space to conserve the amount of water, soil conditioners, and labor needed to produce a maximum amount of food in that space. A square foot garden takes only one-fifth the space and work of a conventional single-row garden to produce the same harvest." SQUARE FOOT

GARDENING REALLY DOES WORK!!!

Answers! to Thyroid Disorders

Dr. Shan says, often times patients will have had a "thyroid test" and the doctor says all parameters are within normal limits; however, they have typically only tested 1 or 2 of the components of the thyroid even though there are 6 total thyroid parameters. This means that some people may have an associated thyroid problem but it goes undiagnosed. If it goes undiagnosed then further tests will be ran and the search for better health continues for a long, long time.

One of the primary fundamental thyroid facts is that the thyroid is controlled by the nerves that travel down from the brain, through the spinal cord in your neck and exit the mid-neck region. If this nerve control is reduced then the thyroid and its components will be negatively affected. Most doctors don't check for nerve flow reduction as most don't have the testing tools to perform these tests. People who have had some type of accident (physical trauma), chemical exposure (bad food, bad water, environmental toxins), an emotional event (i.e. death in the family) and many other encounters have found that they have some type of neck problem which could be leading to their thyroid issues.

We will discuss a couple of simple home tests to find out if this is a problem or if you have a thyroid problem that has been undiagnosed. You'll be amazed! Come and find out if you have a thyroid problem, if your other health conditions could be made worse with a thyroid problem and what are the full tests to evaluating the thyroid?

Hope to see you there!
